People often ask me if a pack ‘n play or playard is a necessary piece of baby gear and I think it’s a pretty tough question to answer because it really depends on your situation. Pack ‘n Play’s can take the place of a bassinet and even a changing table. They are awesome for traveling but in a small space they can take up lots of precious square footage. We registered for one and ended up leaving it at the grandparents house. But realized we needed one in case we wanted to pop away for a weekend and moreso because we happen to live on a very “happening” street and sometimes on the weekends it is just too loud for our little lady to sleep. Since she outgrew one of my most beloved baby products, the Co-Sleeper Mini we decided to purchase the new to the market, 4Moms Breeze so we could have a safe place for her to sleep in our much quieter, back-of-the-place bedroom. The best news (other than this awesome pack ‘n play) is that we are giving one away to a lucky reader! See below for details!
Of all the baby products we’ve assembled the Breeze has to be on the easiest. It is truly amazing how easy it is to assemble. You simply push down from the center and voila you have the playard assembled. After adding the firm but comfy mattress you are set to go. There is an optional infant/newborn insert that can be placed on the top for the younger set. This piece is just as easy to set up and snaps easily in and mattress securely velcros to the top. The Breeze comes with a leak-proof changing pad that allows it to double as a changing table which can come in super handy. The Breeze folds as easily as it unfolds and is secured with six simple velcro straps into a easy to carry “case”.
Second to the easy fold, the sturdiness and stability is what attracted us to the 4moms. And in true 4moms fashion, the Breeze is extremely well made and you can tell upon first glance and feel it is built to last through all your travels.
While the features of the Breeze are great, my favorite feature is really the overall design, which is extremely safe. When researching pack ‘n plays in general, I learned that some pack ‘n plays or travel cribs do not have all mesh or breathable sides. All sides on both the “grown up/toddler” level and the “infant” level are mesh and breathable. At this point, Eloise rolls around quite a bit in her sleep and the last thing I want is her rolling into the side and not being able to breathe. To be honest, I never had considered this feature important before but then I got to thinking – this is why cribs have slats and why bumpers aren’t recommended.
So it is clear I am a big fan of the Breeze. It is innovative, super easy, safe and stylish looking. What is not too love? Well it is heavy which may not make it the best for air travel. This may be less of an issue road trip wise but something worth mentioning. I can carry it and it fold compactly so it is a manageable heavy. As of now, 4moms does not make a sheet for the infant mattress (they do for the larger, lower mattress). We used a co-sleeper sheet and it worked perfectly but I would like to see a 4moms one that fits the mattress perfectly. While Eloise has always seemed comfortable I feel like the infant level mattress may be a little less comfy than others.
Bottom line, I wish the Breeze was available when I registered because if it was, it would have been my choice! I couldn’t recommend it more.
