It’s no secret we love 4moms’ mamaRoo around these parts. It regularly makes our Best Baby Products list, we’ve sung our rave reviews time and time again, and walk into any of our homes and you’ll probably see the mamaRoo sitting in the corner (as long as our littlest is under the 25lbs weight limit). So when 4moms sent over the new and improved mamaRoo, I was so excited to try it out (I believe my exact text read “We can have this baby now!!” when my husband texted from the post office to let me know it had arrived).
The 2015 mamaRoo model still boasts everything we’ve loved about the mamaRoo in the past: there are 5 unique movements, specifically designed to move the way YOU move. And there are 5 speeds! It’s quite literally the next best thing to being held by you. The soothing nature sounds (all 4 of them) are still just as wonderful, and the mp3 input still allows you to play your own music if that’s something you’d rather do.
The seat is able to recline to an almost immeasurable number of positions, which really helps with reflux and/or colic if needed. The comfy seat is still removable for an easy wash, and the toy bar is just as interesting to a little one’s developing eyes + brains.
So what’s new?
First, and in my opinion, the most exciting feature of the new mamaRoo, is the ability to be controlled by your phone. An easy to use, free app for both iPhone + Android allows you to control the mamaRoo’s motion, speed, noise, and volume from your phone. If you haven’t seen the benefit in this yet, let me point it out to you: Say your little one starts to stir while catnapping in the mamaRoo, but you’re not ready for her to wake up yet. If you had to go over to the base to turn the mamaRoo on, she may see you and then that nap is lost. Being able to control the mamaRoo from across the room is fantastic. Bonus: when you’re postpartum and not really comfortable leaning over/squatting down to adjust the mamaRoo on the base, you can do it from a much more comfortable position, on your phone.
Aside from the ability to control the mamaRoo remotely, the LCD screen is larger on the new model. This makes it much easier to see what settings are currently being used.
Finally, I really love the updated design. The new mamaRoo is sleeker, more angular, and super beautiful. Just a simple refresh, but a cool one, nonetheless. The footprint is still nice and tiny (19.5″L x 33″W x 25.5″H) too.
I’m not kidding you when I say 4moms, and specifically the mamaRoo, makes me feel certain I can handle this mom of two thing. I can’t wait for our second little boy to make his appearance, and when he’s not snuggled up in my arms (which, let’s be honest, is going to be the constant for the first few weeks – can’t wait for those baby snuggles!) I’m super excited to have the mamaRoo available.
