We had planned to do one in depth update on the ABC Expo today (here is day 1 and day 2 in case you missed it) but we have so much good stuff we are trying to best organize our thoughts/create the most useful posts. However, I did want to share some of the more exciting tidbits from the infant seat, carseat and stroller arena. We have more to talk about on each brand as well as more of our favorite brands new strollers, carseats and more. We’d love to answer your questions so ask away! Also, if there is anything in particular you’d like to see a full page product review about, leave us a comment!
You all know we love 4moms. And as we mentioned, they are releasing a sister to the beloved mamaRoo, the rockaRoo. The rockaRoo is really designed to complement the mamaRoo. The rockaRoo rocks like a rocking horse which is an upgrade to the traditional swing motion. The rockaRoo takes the place of those bulky swings and has five speeds – so for those of you that have little ones that require a swift motion – the rockaRoo is your piece of gear! We’ll have a full review of the rockaRoo, which will hit stores in December (yay!). And for a glimpse into the 4moms future, the Carseat and Orgami Mini were also announced. The Orgami Mini is a lightweight version of it’s big brother the Orgami. The carseat is amazing and just may revolutionize the carseat market. These latter two products won’t be released until late 2014 so stay tuned for more.
Our friends at Britax are at the forefront of carseat safety. Regulations are constantly changing and it is difficult for parents to keep up with. Lucky for all of us, Britax is making life a bit easier. Most of us are all familiar with the weight and height limits of our carseats but one important measurement that isn’t talked about as much (but should be) is seated shoulder height. Seated shoulder height is important because although, some kids may be within the height maximum their shoulders/torso could put them in an unsafe position in the seat. Britax realizes the importance of parents understanding seated should height limitations and is going as far to put an indicator on ALL new convertible carseats so you know exactly when the seated shoulder height has been met. There are several new regulations that are hitting the market and Britax has addressed those in their seats as well – so, so much more to come on this topic as well as additional photos illustrating the new features. In addition to all of the functional aspects Britax is also coming up with several new colors that are sharp and sophisticated. Also new from Britax is the Affinty stroller which is pretty awesome. Again, lots more to come here.
We all love the City Mini. The City Mini was at ABC looking as pretty as ever but has a new cousin for us to meet – the 4 wheel version of the City Mini! It has all the same awesome features we know and love (easy fold, full recline, smooth ride, etc) but with four wheels. The thought behind the additional wheel is increased stability for rougher terrain and an increased weight limit of 65 pounds vs. 50 pounds of the three wheeled version. Note, as with all City Mini’s this one is also not meant for jogging. The four wheeled City Mini is available and in stores now (awesome)! In the spring of 2014 Baby Jogger is coming out with their first umbrella stroller, the Vue. The Vue will also be the only reversible umbrella stroller on the market. Yep, reversible. Meaning your little one can face out or towards you. It is easy to reverse (more coming on that later) and you can even snap a carseat into the frame! Again, you are reading this right – a reversible umbrella stroller that allows you to strap an infant seat on its compact frame. This umbrella stroller is one I can really get behind and think you all will love it. In addition to the two new models there are some new colors out for all models – the City Mini, Mini GT, Select, Double, etc. Pretty, pretty. Love me some Baby Jogger!
Mamas & Papas
Just last month, Mamas & Papas released the Armadillo. The Armadillo is a lightweight stroller with enough features to be your one and only stroller. It has a super easy fold, cushy, comfy padding, full recline making it suitable from birth and an ample canopy and storage basket. And just when you thought it couldn’t get better there are adapters for Graco and Maxi Cosi carseats (sold separately). We are big fans of the Armadillo and are crossing our fingers that in conjunction with our full page review we can offer a giveaway. Also from Mamas & Papas are some gorgeous new colors and styles of the beloved Urbo which are out of this world gorgeous – you can see a few of the colors on our day 2 recap.
Phew, that is alot of info, right? And it is just the tip of the iceberg – we have updates from Graco, Chicco, Orbit and more to include in this stroller category. Tomorrow we are going to walk through choosing a stroller and what features you should look for. We are so lucky to live in a world with such amazing strollers but where does that leave us parents? Overwhelmed? I mean I research baby products every single day of my life and can agree that it can be a bit intimidating.
What else can we tell you about strollers? What would be helpful to you? Is there anything that you wished you knew before you purchased your stroller?
