Today we are talking about some of the coolest new baby products to hit the market within the last year or so. All of these products are worth taking a closer look at and hopefully we’ll be featuring more detailed reviews (and giveaways) very soon. If you have any experience with them drop me a note and let me know how you like it. Any in particular y’all would like to learn more about?
– BABYBJORN Cradle – It is no secret I am a Baby Bjorn product lover and the new Cradle seems to be another I will add to my love list. The Cradle is a new newborn sleeping option and is made for newborn – six months or up to 18 pounds. It has breathable mesh sides which also give parents a full line of site. The bassinet has a spring suspension system that allows it to rock gently and smoothly. The reviews I have read are positive with the only negative being the slightly higher price than other options (+/- $290). I am dying to try this out!
– Mamas & Papas Juice Highchair – The new Juice high chair from Mamas & Papas is a modern designed chair that is functional and stylish. The straps are actually removable so can be fully cleaned and the soft cushion can be wiped down with a sponge – both huge perks in my book. Parents complain that the straps cannot be tightened to accommodate an infant (chair is for use starting at 6 months) which could be a problem. The cool thing about this chair is that it converts into a booster chair for a toddler which makes this a great bargain for about $149.
– Maxi-Cosi Mico Infant Car Seat– The Maxi-Cosi Micro gets rave reviews for its lightweight, breathable fabric and safety ratings. It is lighter than most other popular seats on the market at only about eight pounds. However, the weight limit is 22 pounds which depending on your lifestyle could be a fair trade off. The Micro works with Maxi-Cosi and Quinny strollers without an adapter but most other major brands have adapters that would allow you to use it without just about any stroller.
– Graco Smart Seat– The Graco Smart Seat just missed making our choosing a convertible carseat post and is the answer to biggest downside of convertible carseats – no base! The Smart Seat has a LATCH equipped base that allows you to switch the carseat between cars. The next best thing is the price point of +/- $265 – it is a worthwhile investment for only having to buy one seat + one additional base+/- $88. Obviously with the Graco name you know you are getting a quality seat. And with its top notch safety rating this seems to be a very wise purchase. More soon on this awesome, new piece of gear!
– Nuna Pepp – We first heard about Nuna on this side of the pond with their innovative infant seat, the Leaf. The Pepp is the newest Nuna product to hit the states and it is already getting rave reviews. It is in the comparable class of the Baby Jogger City Mini GT and Britax B-Agile. It folds easily and very compactly and has a super smooth ride. So far, the biggest complaint I could find is that it does not have a one handed fold like some of the comparable models but overall it appears to be well liked. I am hoping to be able to try out a few of the Nuna products very soon.
– Bare air free Bottles – The Bare air free bottles are available for sale after a much anticipated release. They are thoughtfully designed specifically for breastfed babies to mimic the a natural breast. The Bare air bottles have a air-plug technology which are designed to reduce air intake for your little on thus reducing gassiness and colic symptoms. So far reviews are positive and I can’t wait to try these out!
– Skip Hop Pronto– this handy little clutch is a one stop changing station. There is a place to house diapers, wipes, creams and other essentials AND an outer pocket for your phone, keys, etc and of course a changing pad. I know you are thinking – why wouldn’t I just put this stuff in my diaper bag and go from here? Well you could or you could keep it all right in the Pronto. If I am out with others, I usually leave my big bag with them and carry the individual “stuff” in the bathroom for a diaper change. It would be so handy to use this instead. It would also be great to stick in the stroller for trips to the park or a quick bite out where I don’t need my normal “gear”.
– Boppy Nursing Pillow – Boppy worked with lactation consultants to develop their new nursing pillow. It incorporates some of the elements from the My Brest Friend like the strap attached the pillow around your waist. The Boppy Nursing pillow gets mixed reviews on sites like Amazon but nursing pillows tend to be very personal choice and what works for some doesn’t always work for others. The Nursing pillow has two distinct surfaces – a more firm and a more soft so mama can choose which she prefers. The entire pillow is also washable which is a plus but the downside is the cover is not removable and you have to wash the entire pillow. This relatively new product is definitely on the “learn more about” list.
– Magnificent Baby Magnentic Footie – This innovative line of baby wear uses magnets instead of snaps, zippers or buttons. Parents rave about how easy these make middle of the night diaper changes and dressing little babes in general. Eloise hated being naked so the faster I could get her re-dressed the better. My concern with these is how well they stay fastened but overall not many complaints in this area from parents. One of our real mama’s, Sara Cate included these as one of her favorites so I have a feeling I would love them!
