We first laid eyes on the newest stroller from Britax at the ABC Kids Expo this past October. Over the last several weeks, we’ve been putting the Britax Affinity to the test and aren’t surprised to tell you it is a fabulous stroller. The Affinity is great for all lifestyles, is super functional and also very stylish. And we are oh, so pleased to be offering a GIVEAWAY to one of you lucky readers… details below.
The Afiinity is completely customizable – you can choose from 3 different stroller frame colors (black, silver or white) and six different color packs (black, cactus green, cool berry, fossil brown, red pepper or sky blue). This is a fun feature to allow you to make your stroller unique and also allow you to personalize it for children of different genders. Note, the color pack is sold separately (about $80-$99). Included in the color pack is the seat cover, canopy, strap covers and storage basket liner. The stroller does not come with a canopy so it is our strong recommendation the color pack be purchased.
The overall maneuverability is outstanding. The front wheel suspension coupled with the air filled tires creates a super smooth ride. Believe me, we put the smoothness to the test with bumpy, uneven, pothole filled Chicago streets – the Affinity didn’t miss a beat and I didn’t get one “woah, mama” from my toddler passenger which frequently happens in other strollers! One of my favorite features is the ease at which you can operate the Affinity with one hand. In my mind, one handed operation of a stroller is not only key but mandatory. The Affinity even has a little indent in the handle bar to help you maneuver one handed.
Versatility. The Affinity has a four position recline seat and the seat can be positioned with your child facing in or out (love, love, love this!). The recline mechanism is on the front of the stroller near the seat which is different than you will find on many other strollers. I don’t consider this good or bad just a different way of doing things. It is worth noting because it is a bit atypical. You can also use any Britax car seat without an adapter (we love the BSafe) or purchase adapters for most major brands. Another option for additional purchase is a bassinet. Persoanlly, I like that the bassinet is an additional purchase. In the event you don’t plan to use a bassinet it is nice to not have to pay for it (we never used a bassinet when our girls were newborns – always just the car seat). The Affinity can be used for newborns and babies below six months with the an infant car seat or the bassinet. If you opt out of either of those the Affinity shouldn’t be used until six months of age.
Fold. The fold of the Affinity is easy. The nice thing is you can fold with the seat ON. It folds more compactly with it off but if you have the space for the fold with the seat on, it is just one less step for you to be on your way. Once folded the Affinity stands on its own which is a super nice feature. It weighs 25 pounds which makes is on the lighter side for such a high end, capable stroller.
Canopy. I am pretty picky when it comes to stroller canopies. The Affinity’s does not disappoint. It is an ample size and has a magnetic closure peek-a-boo window (much better than noisy velcro – it is the little things folks 😉). For times when you require more coverage you can unzip the back and the canopy pops out even further revealing a mesh piece of fabric. In addition to front, sun protection the mesh also provide great airflow and an even larger peek-a-boo window. The Affinity comes with a rain cover and all weather cover to offer further protection from the elements.
Storage. The Affinity has a decent storage that can be easily accessed with the seat facing in or out. You can easily fit a medium sized diaper bag, a small blanket and several other small toys or goodies. If you are doing your weekly grocery shopping you may be short on space though.
Overall, I am very, very impressed with the Affinity. I love it for all lifestyles – great for urbanites because of its small footprint and excellent suspension with air filled tires. Great for suburban lifestyles because of it’s easy fold for out and about and comfy ride for long jaunts around the neighborhood. For those wanting one and only stroller, this could be it. It is light enough that it makes sense for travel without compromising on the bells and whistles of heavier strollers. The versatility makes it a stroller that will work at all ages and stages and lastly, the quality of Britax means it will stand the test of time. We strongly recommend this stroller especially if you are considering a Britax infant car seat.
As mentioned, we are giving away an Affinity of your choice (frame + color pack – based on availability). The giveaway starts today, June 10th and ends Saturday June 14th at 5pm CST. Winner will be chosen at random, contacted via email and have five days to claim their prize before another winner is selected.
We would never accept money for a product review but we were sent a Britax Affinity for testing as part of this review.
