As baby safety month wraps up we thought it would be fun to move on to something completely different – a budget week! Our budget week will spill into early next week with a budget friendly baby registry guide and a nursery designed on a budget. But this week, we have some awesome you’ll-have-to-wait-and-see budget related posts. What better way to kick off budget week than with a gorgeous, I mean something out of a magazine gorgeous, toddler room submitted to us by one of our clearly, very stylish readers, Kelly.
There are so many things I love about this space – it is subtle but statement making; sophisticated but still a whimsical toddler space – basically, it is everything I would want in Eloise’s room someday. I will let real mama Kelly, tell you more about the space and how it came to be while staying budget friendly. She has done a great job of providing us her sources and like her, we love Ikea, too! A big thanks to Kelly for sharing her lovely space with us and if you have a space you’d like to share, email us!
From Kelly… I’m so excited to share with you my 15 month old daughter’s new toddler room! We are expecting a son in early November and moved our daughter from the gender neutral nursery into her chic, fun own room that she can grow with. We tried to keep the room as budget and function friendly as possible, without making it too “baby” so she can enjoy the atmosphere for a few years to come.
As my own home decor style evolves, I find myself leaning towards an eclectic mix of textures, finishes and pieces to pull together spaces. A something old, someone new approach! What I love most is the gallery wall- which includes milestone pictures of our daughter as a newborn, 6 month old and 12 month old… an embroidered angel gifted to me on my 21st birthday from my grandmother, a tin flower found at a garage sale and a ballerina print from the thrift store. The Ikea spice racks, painted gold and used as bookshelves, are the perfect height for a toddler. Delaney loves choosing books to read and taking them on and off the shelves.
The lamps on the dresser are currently on loan from my dining room buffet… not sure if they will stay or go. The curtains and hanging light fixture and dresser/ nightstand were all DIY successes (thanks to some Pinspiration)! The wallpaper was my one splurge for the room- I love the colors and large graphics. My advice for decorating a nursery or toddler room would be to steer clear of being too “matchy” and instead think of your pieces and accessories as complimenting each other.
