We just got the Cybex Aton 2 on the advice of our local baby store, and so far it’s great. Our car is a 2007 Honda Fit, so right off the bat a lot of seats aren’t possible because of their size. The Aton is so compact, and the base is incredibly easy to install. I’m glad you mentioned that it’s compatible with Maxi-Cosi adapters–the guy at the store told us but otherwise I’d never have figured that out from the info available online, even on Cybex’s web site.

(The Aton 2 is just like the Aton but with the addition of a couple of features that make it safer when installed next to a door instead of in the middle. It costs about $30 more than the regular Aton.)

We did the orbit system with first two and loved the car seat but it is very heavy . So we decided with number three to go a different route. We went with a Nuna and it’s great! It’s compatable with our new bugaboo donkey and has a great shade. It also a very nice breathable skin. It’s also very light and small in size .

Great post. I just bought the Maxi Cosi mico. Personally, I wanted to skip buying an infant car seat and just go for the convertible car seat. But one of the pieces of advice I got was to consider that this is our first baby, we haven’t used a car seat before, and convertible seats are bulky/ hard to install and move.

  15. […] Choosing an infant car seat is often one of the toughest choices expecting parents make.  Afterall, it will likely be one of your most used pieces of baby gear.  If I had to guess, the most important consideration is safety and the seat we are reviewing today, the CYBEX Aton 2 ranks high on the safety chart but quite a few features that set it apart from the other infant car seats on the market.  Of course, we are going to cover all those features, lend our real mom thoughts and give a CYBEX Aton 2 to one of you lucky ducks! I have a questions. You mentioned you have a Bugaboo. Did the Britax fit on it? We’re thinking about getting a Bugaboo Donkey for our coming twins, but I can’t figure out if the Britax will fit on an adapter. Any thoughts?

Would be great to see you include how high the lowest slot for the harness each seat has and how well it really fits tiny newborns especially. many on the market don’t fit little babies well because their lowest harness slot is to high so it comes from above the babies shoulders instead of at or below. There are seats that do fit even the tiniest of babies well. The fit above all else is so important to the babies safety

New Mom to be here–can you comment on the pros/cons of a travel system (ex, Baby Jogger City Mini GT system which includes the car seat) vs. buying the car seat and stroller separately?
