My plan while pregnant with Margaux was to wear her everywhere – around the house, play spaces, out and about so I could easily keep up with Eloise (she’s a busy one) while being close to Marguax. Much to my dismay, my newborn baby wearing dreams haven’t really panned out. I have tried several carriers but have had various issues ranging from it being too complicated to use to Eloise getting jealous because it is the carrier we use for her and wanting me to carry her instead of Margaux, etc. When Julie, founder and creator contacted me about her new product, the Nesting Days newborn carrier I was excited to give it a try but wasn’t sure it would yield different results than my other attempts.
Well, I was WRONG. The Nesting Days carrier is a product designed by a wise mama. It is easy to get on, easy to get the babe in and out of, comfortable and serves multiple functions – what is not to love?
Important technical details:
- The Nesting Days is a carrier designed for newborns (5 – 15 pounds). It works with twins and premies, although so may need a receiving blanket “boost” from the bottom.
- Machine washable
- Made in the USA
- Comes in Small, Medium & Large for a personalized fit
I want to start with my favorite feature – the ease of use. The carrier is in one piece. You step in to it and pull it on, pull one shoulder up, tuck the baby in, pull the other shoulder up and tie it snuggly to the other side. No wrapping, no loops, no buckles just easy to use. A little tip that I found made it easier than the instructions – after pulling the carrier to waist height, I put Margaux in position on my chest (while sitting down and leaning back) and pulled the carrier up around her. I have been able to successfully put her in and take her out of the carrier all while keeping her asleep.
Other notable, unique features of the Nesting Days carrier that also make it multi-functional:
- It is designed to promote skin to skin contact which has multiple benefits – promotes bonding, soothing, helps build milk supply and facilitates healing to name a few. The Nesting Days carrier can be worn with nothing underneath – think of it as a baby carrying cami! I wore various weight shirts underneath and never had any issue with fit or use.
- The fabric is super soft and supportive so much so, it is a body shaper. It is safe to wear post c-section and provides a gentle support. I really love the fabric for all of it’s qualities but its snug and stretchy fit makes me feel confident that Margaux isn’t shifting position while she’s in the carrier. Some of you may have experienced other soft carriers in which the baby slowly moves to a less comfortable position – not here! The Nesting Days truly gives you a hands free newborn hold.
It is clear I am fan of the Nesting Days carrier. The downside? It is a newborn carrier. We mentioned it can be used up to 15 pounds and for some of you that may not be long enough to justify the investment. In my mind, it makes a worthy the investment. Having a carrier that is easy to get your teeny newborn in and out of while you get things done around the house (or chase an older sibling) is important to me. One other minor detail is that they are sized carriers so depending on your size compared to your partner or husband it may not be a carrier multiple people can use. At the end of the day, the positives outweigh the two minor negatives for me. I am so thankful Julie contacted me and so thrilled to be sharing her innovative product with you!
