Newborn Photos by Fresh Art Photography

We’re in for a treat today.  Today we are featuring an out-of-this-world darling newborn session from the talented Jodie of Fresh Art Photography.  The monochromatic tone of the images is perfection.  Pure, perfection.  I love the soft tone of the images and that it allows the little bundle of joy to stand front and center.  The newborn stage flies by faster than any stage and having gorgeous photos like these are something treasure forever.  A big thanks to Jodie at Fresh Art Photography for sharing these with us!

fresh-art-photography-6From Jodie… What I loved about this session is that for the first time we kept the color palette in all of the images cohesive. Usually we let parents chose hats or headbands that they like (sometimes props or blankets too from our stash) and then we build the session around those choices. It can lead to beautiful images that our clients love but it also can sometimes make it hard to create a wall gallery. I will admit that I am kind of ADD when it comes to shooting newborn sessions… I love playing with different colors, props and set-ups/poses so it’s not just my clients it’s me too! This session was at the end of October and I had over 30 sessions that month so I was exhausted and frankly really sick of working… so when I got to the studio I told Kim Weiss (my old business partner… she now only shoots newborns with me… she does the posing while I shoot) that I wanted to try something different. We played around with a few different ideas but then we ended up deciding to try a more monochromatic color scheme. So we pulled creams, purples, tans, grays… all very muted and soft. Luckily when our client arrived and I told her our idea she loved it! Every session is different of course and everyone has their own taste but right now my own personal preference is for softer, more muted newborn sessions. I love how it just adds to the warmth and softness of that new baby!

  1. The images are gorgeous and absolutely lovely in every simple yet grand way.

I love how sometimes the best ideas come at points of exhaustion. It’s almost as if our mind gets out of the way and the ideas just enter!

If we were in St. Louis, we’d totally jump in and help. Our prayers are extended instead.
