Breastfeeding is a journey – easier for some than others. For me personally, the second time around has been much easier and more enjoyable (I still can’t say I love it but I love doing ti for my little gal). These nine products are my absolute essentials for nursing moms and have helped make my breastfeeding journey #2 all the better. What has made / is making your breastfeeding experience easier?
1- Boob Design nursing hoodie. I mentioned before (here) that I didn’t nurse Eloise much past one month old. Margaux and I are going strong into month four of nursing – yay! I have to admit, I wasn’t necessarily prepared for nursing wardrobe wise. We are out and about a lot so I need clothes that allow me to nurse in public while still being discreet. Enter BoobDesign’s nursing hoodie. I have been living in this! It is very discreet, keeps you fully covered and is so comfortable. Not to mention, I feel like I am wearing a real shirt instead of a cami/cardigan. I just ordered this new, Simone top for spring and am super excited about it. ps, they also have a fabulous nursing bra.
2 – Bebe Au Lait Nursing Cover. In keeping with the nursing theme, I LOVE this cover. We have an entire post dedicated to the reasons I love this cover coming up on Monday but seriously, I do not leave my house without.
3 – Tervis water bottle. Between chasing a 21 month old around and nursing a very hungry 3 month old – I am thirst all.the.time. I do not leave home without my Tervis water bottle and have it within arm’s reach at all times.
4 – Boppy Nursing Pillow. I mentioned that this was one of Margaux’s favorites and it makes my nursing favorites list too. I love that there are two sides to this pillow, it is super portable and easy to use. It has a strap that allows you to attach it around your waist but most often times, I don’t actually use it. Nursing pillows can be very personal choices so while this may not be the best for everyone, it is for me.
5 – Bamboobies. Not to get to personal but I am not a big leaker so don’t always have to wear breast pads however, when I do, Bamboobies are my new favorite. They are not only great for leakage but for preventing sore/tender nipples from rubbing against a nursing bra. Not to mention, they help heal between feedings paired with the next favorite…
6 – Earth Mama Angel Baby Nipple Butter. I swear this stuff is magic. Granted, I am breastfeeding for a second time but this Nipple Butter saved me this time around. My pain and discomfort was one million times lower with EMAB Nipple Butter. I actually started using it a few weeks before giving birth – not sure if it helped or not but like I said, this Nipple Butter helped make breastfeeding much more pleasant this time around.
7 – Gilligan & O’Malley nursing bras. I included these in my nursing bra buying guide and they are still a go to favorite. They are so comfy and easy to wear. I just love them.
8 – The Dairy Fairy Sadie Nursing/Pumping tank. I have mentioned the Arden bra many, many times before and now the Dairy Fairy is out with a super soft jersey tank that incorporates the Arden Bra – score!
7 – NuzzleHug. Hannah loved the NuzzleHug and I do too. The option for hot or cold soothing is a major plus. I prefer cold for the early days of breastfeeding and hot for the later days with less pain. Either way, the NuzzleHug has been a great addition to my nursing arsenal
