You guys, we are in for a treat today… Today’s real mama has a super fabulous list of products. Lots of which aren’t seen too often and in addition to the products themselves, she has awesome mini product reviews to go along with each (which I la,la, love). A super real mama, if you will. A huge thank to Adrienne for sharing her great list and if you’d like to share your list, we would of course, love to have you (email me).
I’m a working mom of two – a 2 year-old boy and an 8 week-old girl living in the suburbs of a major city in the Northeast. I have a penchant for researching baby products in my non-existent free time. Here are some of my favorites. I decided to leave out the tried and true here in favor of some lesser known finds (but, yes, I also love the mamaroo, rock ‘n play sleeper, and Aden and Anais swaddle blankets!).
1: 7 AM Enfant Cocoon – Considering my daughter was born in January and this winter has been absolutely brutal (and apparently will not end), a car seat cover was critical. The 7 AM Enfant Cocoon goes over the car seat making it safe (priority number one) and it’s like a down coat (read: windproof and warm). It zips open in several places making it easy to adjust between outdoors and indoors.
2: California Baby Calendula Cream – Have I mentioned that it’s freezing in the Northeast? Well, cold weather means dry skin for my son. California Baby Calendula Cream is the answer. Slather it on right after bath time and let it work its magic. No more dry skin and it smells heavenly.
3: Nosefrida -Everyone should get a NoseFrida upon leaving the hospital. My husband and I are both germaphobes, so we were a bit nervous about sucking mucus from our baby’s nose, but it is truly germ free thanks to the filter. It works about 1,000 times better than bulb aspirators. When your baby is congested, it is a miracle (meaning everyone sleeps).
4: Philips Avent Natural Bottles – My son would use any baby bottle out there. My newborn daughter, not so much. We tried everything and we all fell in love with the Philips Avent Natural bottles. First of all, my newborn will drink out of them. Second, the ounce markings are in blue (not clear) and you can actually read them (so they work for mom and dad too). Bonus points for having very few parts – only the bottle, nipple and collar.
5: Green Sprouts Stacking Cup Set – It sounds mundane with all of the super cool toys out there, but stacking cups are a perennial favorite for a reason. My son played with his Green Sprouts stacking cups for what seemed like forever. First just holding them and banging them together and later stacking them in order. Because they’re by Green Sprouts, they are free of all of that nasty stuff like BPA, PVC, and phthalates.
6: Sugarbooger Silverware Set – Sugar Booger utensils are a diaper bag must-have. They have fun patterns, a little magnetized container to keep them clean, and toddlers can actually use them. Throw a set or two in your diaper bag and you’re good to go.
7: BurnOut Kids Sunscreen – For those of you in warmer climates or lucky enough to get away for the winter, BurnOut Kids sunscreen is a winner. I am not exaggerating when I say that I’ve tried probably 20 different Environmental Working Group approved sunscreens on my extremely fair skinned son. So that you don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars on sunscreen, I’ll tell you that BurnOut Kids is the absolute best. Perfect consistency (not too runny, not too clumpy), not greasy, and doesn’t turn your little one chalk-white.
8: UPPAbaby G-Luxe – We are an UppaBaby family, what can I say? We have the Vista and the G-Luxe, but I feel the G-Luxe doesn’t get the credit it deserves. It’s comfortable for the wee ones (and even reclines), light, and easy to manage. It’s comfortable enough for every day (even a few trips to the zoo) and perfect for travel.
9: Amazon.com – Amazon.com makes my life easier. Period. I have Amazon Prime but they also have an Amazon Moms subscription. They have almost every baby product you’ve ever heard of and many you’ve never heard of. In my experience, the prices are almost always lower than their competitors. Everything from toys to baby lotion to diapers arrives on my doorstep in two days with the click of a button. I couldn’t live without it.
Awesome list, right? Thanks again Adrienne! xo
