Yay for Real Mom Wednesday! I am super excited to share new mama, Beth’s favorites with you. Beth has one of the best lists yet – jam packed full of all different products types all of which happen to be pretty awesome. I personally own some of the products Beth loves and totally agree with all of her choices making this list. And can we take a second to say how darling her pic is? Love it. Enjoy and a big thanks to Beth! We are in need of some additional real mom volunteers – email me for details. It is easy and FUN, I promise. Not to mention, real moms love hearing what works for you!
My name is Beth and I am a first time mama to the cutest, sweetest, little big baby, Troy. Troy is 6 weeks old and already growing so quickly. Troy, my husband, and I live in an urban environment in a small, 1100 square foot townhouse. We share our space with our sweet black kitty, Ziggy. We like to be active and take Troy on walks each night. For now I am enjoying being a stay at home mama to Troy—I will be going back to work in about 6 more weeks so I am savoring the time I have with him. I love reading about other mommy’s favorites each week on The Wise Baby so I am very happy to share some of mine!
1 – Summer Infant SwaddleMe Organic Cotton, Zoo
I started using these when our little one was going through a fussy period at 3 weeks old and we decided we needed to go back to swaddling him. My husband prefers to do the traditional swaddle, but I struggle with it and these organic wraps make it so easy. Plus baby looks so cute all wrapped up like a little baby burrito! Thankfully the SwaddleMe wraps have helped Troy sleep long stretches—already 4 to 6 hours at night.
2 – Earth Mama Angel Baby Angel Baby Lotion
I love this lotion. Troy’s skin tends to be on the drier side so I use this lotion to smooth his skin. The lotion is all organic and natural ingredients which makes me feel good. Plus its orange and vanilla scent makes the little one smell yummy.
3 – The Honest Company Diapers and Wipes
These diapers and wipes are eco friendly, chemical free, and great for sensitive skin. I must admit that the cute diaper designs make diaper changing more fun for mama! The fact that these are eco friendly and that the some of the proceeds go to charity also makes me feel good. Plus my baby has never had any diaper rash since we starting using these diapers and wipes.
4 – Small Plum Organic Bamboo bodysuits
A friend gave me one of these bodysuits as a shower gift and it quickly became one of my favorite outfits for my little one. The bamboo material is so soft and stays that way after multiple washings. The bodysuit is a little roomy which is perfect for my little big baby and the head hole is large and stretches easily—perfect for a baby that hates clothes being pulled over his head. I will be ordering more of these as my boy grows up!
5 – aden + anais Hooded Towel – I could fill up this list with all the Aden & Anais items that I love. I decided to focus on the hooded towel. It is fun to wrap baby up after a bath in a Aden & Anais towel with its cute little hood. As with all Aden & Anais products, the towels also have a cute stylish print and are super soft.
6 – Skip Hop Dash Deluxe, Black – Great because it is so compact and also fits so many items. This bag fits perfectly on my stroller because of the “shuttle clips” that attach to the handle bar. I love all the pockets especially the insulated side pockets for a bottle. Its messenger bag look is totally uni-sex and still stylish so either my husband or I can use it.
7 – My Brest Friend Deluxe Pillow – A friend passed the Brest Friend onto me and I am so lucky because I don’t know if I would have tried it otherwise. This pillow makes breastfeeding much easier for me. My baby is pretty big (already 13 pounds at 6 weeks) so the Brest Friend makes it possible for me to hold him comfortably. The back support helps since I am shorter. With the Brest Friend I don’t have to place a bunch of pillows behind my back for extra support. I like the removable cover so I can wash it easily. It also positions the baby for a good latch and supports him which makes it easier for me to read a book or surf the Internet while I feed him. I like to joke that it has been my “Brest Friend” since baby has arrived!
8 – Britax 2012 B-Agile Stroller
I traded in a larger, more expensive stroller for the Britax B-Agile. I love that it is easy to fold up and carry. It is also compact for storage in the car or our house. It is agile—fitting easily in the aisles at a store or between all the people at a park or other outdoor event. To me this convenience is much more important than the extra features it might be missing. The B-Agile is also perfect for our evening strolls!
9 – Milk It Breastmilk Labels – These waterproof, removable labels make it easy for me to keep track of my pumped milk in the refrigerator. Before I found them I was writing the date and any notes on a post it and taping it on there—not very functional. Plus these labels have a super cute vintage looking design with fun sayings like “Not for Lattes.” To me, this makes pumping and storing milk in the wee hours of the morning much more fun. These labels will be great when I go back to work. I love that Milk It was created by a breastfeeding mom to support other breastfeeding moms.
10 – Babyletto Skip Crib – This crib was the perfect crib for my baby boy’s nursery. I love the mid century modern look and also that it is made from sustainable wood. Even though baby isn’t sleeping in the crib yet, I look forward to my little boy using it for many years as it grows with him by converting to a toddler bed or day bed.
11 – Ubbi Diaper Pail – This diaper pail is functional and looks great in my nursery. It’s nice modern design makes up for the fact it is collecting all the stinky diapers!
12 – Fisher-Price Deluxe Newborn Rock ‘N Play Sleeper, Snugabunny – This is on pretty much everyone’s list, but it really is a lifesaver. My baby loves to nap in it. I love that I can move it around the house so easily. My baby can stay sleeping while I move him around while I shower, do chores, work on the computer or whatever else. We have a small space so it is wonderful that it is so compact and folds up.
