Today we have our second installment of Real moms favorite baby products. The response to Leslie’s feature from last week was fabulous and I am thrilled you all like these as much as I do. I love seeing what works for other moms. Up today is Veronica – she also has some great picks and great advice about choosing baby gear! Without further ado, here’s Veronica…
I’m Veronica, I live in the Houston area- I had a baby in November- I have a daughter who is 10 so having a huge gap almost put me in the first time mom category. This time around I was so much more careful as to what I put in my body during my pregnancy and aware of the changes I was going through… I was also more intelligent I like to think, when it came to choosing thing for my new baby! Most of the products you will find on my list I read a lot about before buying and trying on my own! I wanted to make sure my son had the best, but I wanted to make sure I don’t go crazy buying stuff I wouldn’t use!
My first favorite is the Britax B-Agile travel system- I did a ton of research on what the best stroller system was for me and this was my favorite. 10 years ago when I had my daughter I bought what was most economical for me and I ended up having to purchase something sooner than expected because the first stroller did not last. So I refused to do that again with my son. This system I loved the fact that it’s easy in and out of the car and I can fold it with one hand- it’s also sooo smooth that I can also steer it with one hand! I like that the base can stay put in the car and it also has a recline option on there for the smaller babies. My son seems really comfortable in his car seat.
2) Car Seat Canopy
The next thing I absolutely love is my carseat canopy from www.carseatcanopy.com, I love the fact that it Velcro snaps on to the handle of my carseat- this came in really handy for us since my baby was born in November, although it’s not that cold here in the Houston area, it was good to have a cover over the seat to keep the cold wind out.. Also I once forgot a blanket and the soft lining inside served as one..
3) aden + anais swaddle blankets + burpy bibs
I also along with a ton of moms love the Aden and Anais swaddles!! My son hated to be swaddled in the Velcro type swaddles so these worked great! They are light weight, thin, and keep him cool. You can make the swaddle tight or loose. We actually use one daily! I love the “oh boy” design the best, it’s boyish without it being sporty. I really like the products that this company has. I also use their burpy bibs, they have a small snap in the back and cover the front as well as the shoulders.
4) California Baby
My next obsession is California Baby! Alexander had a reaction to the first bath products we used, and CB was recommended to me by a colleague. Alexander also developed cradle cap and everything I used prior to the CB calendula shampoo just made it worse! After using the product his cradle cap resolved, and the dry skin he had developed from the other products cleared up within a day. We also use the calming shampoo, it has lavender oils in it and its very soothing, not to mention all their products are natural, and they smell like you have a spa in your bathroom!
5) Cloud B Soothing Giraffe
We also just started using the Cloud B Gentle Giraffe which quickly became a favorite of all of us! It is so soothing helps you get right to sleep! It even helps mom and dad sleep! It helped the Alexander transition into the deeper sleep which he was having trouble getting to!
6) Infant bath sponge
Another one of my favorites is an infant bath sponge, it comes in the shape of a turtle- I used this when my son was first home from the hospital- you can put it in or next to the sink and works great for a sponge bath since the baby just lays on it! The water it retains helps keep the baby warm- when your done you just wring it out- or hang it in the tub to dry!! Not to mention it retails for about $6 !!!
A big THANKS to Veronica for sharing her favorites with us! If you are interested in having your favorite products featured, email me and I will give you more details (it is easy, I promise)!
