Serena & Lily Crib Set Review + a Giveaway!

Last week we featured some fabulous nursery design tips from Serena & Lily and this week we are reviewing their chic and stylish crib sets and giving one away!  Details on the giveaway below but first, you should know the product up for grabs here, right?!?   Serena & Lily is one of the first places I went when I was on the hunt for crib bedding.  A quick browse through their full of style crib sets presents endless options and loads of design ideas.  Crib bedding can really set the tone for the room and making the purchase online without touching and feeling the fabrics could be intimidating.  Lucky for us, the gals over at Serena & Lily sent me the Dylan crib set for review.

Highlights:  The bedding came beautifully packaged, neatly in its own drawstring bag and delicately wrapped in plastic.  I felt like I was getting an extra special gift. I mention this only because as a mama to be, something as simple as receiving your crib bedding can be so special.  Opening this package, I felt special (and I am not even pregnant!).  Included in the crib set are the bumpers, crib skirt and crib sheet.  The colors of the Dylan bedding are soft and soothing and the pattern on the bumpers has a bit of whimsy that every nursery could use. Let me break it down by piece for you…

Crib skirt:  Very well made and easy to put on the crib and hangs nicely right out of the bag.  The varying textures and layer adds interest and I especially love the tan linen stripe. While not every crib skirt Serena & Lily carries is the same pattern/color wise every one is the same quality wise. I washed the crib skirt and it looked the same as it did out of the bag which to me equals durability.  I definitely give the crib skirt a five out of five. Take it from me, there is a vast difference in the quality of this crib skirt versus others. Side note, I have a crib skirt from another “big name” retailer and this one is much, much better.

Crib sheet:  The crib sheet is super soft and fits the crib mattress (standard size) very well. The pattern is fun but not over bearing and it looks great on the crib with the crib skirt and bumpers. The subtle pattern adds an additional layer of interest to the overall design.  I washed the crib sheet several times and there was no fading, stretching or shrinking.  You guessed it, the crib sheet gets a five out of five as well.  Check out the great selection of crib sheets Serena & Lily offers. Many of their patterns are complimentary and can be used with multiple nursery collections. For example, the Blue Kaleidoscope crib sheet would look great with the Dylan bedding. On our Registry Guides we suggest purchasing two to three crib sheets and these coordinating designs are a great way to change things up.

Bumpers:  Without starting a “bumper or no bumper” discussion here, I have to say these bumpers are great.  They are plush but firmly stuffed and stand up excellently when placed and tied properly in the crib. Admittedly, I was nervous to wash the bumpers because I was sure they would come out misshapen but they didn’t! They washed beautifully.  Comparing these to other bumpers, I would say they are superior. The soft cotton sateen fabric and flat style are great.  Not to mention, the Dylan pattern is adorable and really perfect for a boy or a girl. Another five out of five for the bumpers!

Lowlights: It is probably clear by now I am big fan of these crib sets.  The one negative thing I could say is that, prior to ordering you cannot “touch and feel” the bedding and see the true colors.  BUT Serena & Lily thought of that… they have handy little swatch cards you can purchase! Thus, eliminating the color and tactile dilemma which leaves me with little negative to say…

Bottom Line: I couldn’t more highly recommend Serena & Lily crib sets. From the customer service (I ordered from them prior to launching The Wise Baby) to the out of this world adorable yet sophisticated designs they are top notch.  Their attention to detail is unmatched and your little one would be lucky to sleep “in” any one of their crib sets!
