Virtual Baby Shower: Baby K’tan baby carrier

Posted on

Happy weekend and happy virtual baby shower day!  We are buzzing right along in our virtual baby shower and still have soooo much great gear left to giveaway.  Today is my go-to-gift for new moms (I have seriously given to three friends and recommended it to a fellow blogger) – the Baby K’tan Baby Carrier.  I raved about the Baby K’tan quite some time ago (here) but it wasn’t introduced to me until Eloise was about four months old and out of the cuddly newborn stage.  Of course I loved it then and still love it now but I am really excited to have a Baby K’tan from day one this time around.  In addition to the awesome carrier itself we are giving away the the K’tan Cloth which is equally as awesome.

First, lets talk Baby K’tan Baby Carrier.  The K’tan is so awesome because it takes all the great things about wraps, slings and more traditional baby carriers and simplifies it BIG time.  The K’tan is made of soft, durable cotton but has no wrapping, excess fabric, buckles or snaps to contend with.  It is basically the wrap without the wrapping.  The K’tan consists of two pieces – one is the assembled wrap which is easy to put on.  The second is a circular piece of fabric that adds additional support/security to the first piece.

The beauty of the K’tan is how easy it is to put on and subsequently put a baby in.  Especially when Eloise was a newborn, I always seemed to have a bit of trouble getting her in other carriers.  The K’tan works for babies 8 – 35 pounds so you can start safely using it in the very early days.  There are several positions that baby can be in in the K’tan and it is great for skin to skin contact and for those sweet wee  ones that just love to be snuggled.

The K’tan will be a daily wear for me once this new little one arrives.  Eloise is on the move and a busy gal which I don’t see changing nor do I want to change!  My plan is to wear the new little in the K’tan which will provide a happy place for them while still allowing me to be active with Eloise.  Bonding with my two babes at once – will it get any better?!?  For more details on the K’tan check out our full review.

But it gets better… Baby K’tan recently launched their new, K’tan Cloth.  The K’tan Cloth is a 3 in 1 product –  which you all know I go nuts for multi-functioning products and this one is awesome.  The Cloth is two sided: one side is a soft, breathable microfiber and the other is lightweight cotton.  On one end is a closed pocket and the other has velcro to allow you to attached the Cloth to anything your heart desires.  Lets talk about all the utility in this super cute cloth:
baby-ktan-cloth

1) a discreet (and easy to transport) nursing cover – the K’tan Cloth easily attaches to any baby carrier (if you must wear others than the K’tan) to serve as a nursing cover.  I only tried it with the K’tan and it is very handy. I put the absorbent microdiber side down, facing the would be baby and using the little pocket/sleeve tucked it underneath the shoulder of the K’tan carrier.  I draped the Cloth along the top of the carrier to create a barrier that would allow me to see a babe but no one to really even notice what I am doing.  I even fastened it loosely with the other ends’ velcro pieces.  Amazing, right?

2) burp cloth.  The K’tan Cloth also serves as a burp cloth.  It is long and narrow and can easily be placed over your shoulder for a burp cloth.  It would be great to use along with a carrier because it has a little more length than a traditional cloth allowing you to tuck the Cloth in the carrier for in it to stay in place.  It also has the open pocket end which would be great for catching any spit up that may escape the absorbent cotton.  And lets be honest, who can’t use an extra burp cloth with a newborn?

3) a blankie.  The K’tan Cloth would make a great little lovie or extra piece of blanket for added warmth.  Opposite the pocket end is a piece that creates a “u” via velcro which would allow you to easily attach the K’tan cloth to a stroller or carseat (always supervise a young one with a blanket/cloth though to make sure it doesn’t approach the face).

Bottom line the Baby K’tan Carrier and Cloth are on my newborn essentials list big time! Whether you have one, two or three babies the Baby K’tan is one of those makes-moms-life-easier products.  So obviously, I am thrilled to be giving away both the Carrier and Cloth to one lucky mama!

The giveaway opens today, October 4th and ends next Saturday, October 12th at noon CST.  The winner will be contacted via email and five days to claim their prize before another winner is selected.

Well since I have older children and expecting a carrier would definitely come in hand during all of their sporting events. Car seats and strollers are sometimes too big!

I’m pregnant with my first, so what I think will be essential may not be. I imagine that swaddling blankets, lots of pillow for breast feeding, and a wrap or carrier for baby wearing will come in handy those first few weeks.

  40. Allison

“Essential,” to me, means something that is really necessary. I’d say bottles, pacifiers, and diapers are the true essentials! A baby carrier seems like more of a “nice to have” than a “must have,” just because a stroller or simply carrying the baby will work as well. That said, I’d love to have this carrier.

The most essential thing for a baby from day one is a pacifier! I know its not recommended but no one needs a few moments of quiet than a new mom :)

  65. Joann Whitaker

With my son, he was only content if he was laying on me. There was no soothie that would comfort him. I didn’t have a wrap/sling and we didn’t get a carrier until he was about 3, maybe 4 months old. We only used it when we went hiking or grocery shopping though. He’s now 15 months and we are expecting his baby sister on Christmas Eve! I came across this product at the Great Cloth Diaper Change in my area but lost that raffle, lol. This is on my baby registry now but to win one would be even better! I plan to use it all the time so that I can snuggle her and keep up with my son at the same time, as well as be able to breastfeed easily while doing other things, if needed.

As far as any other newborn essentials, I’m hoping a pacifier (my son wouldn’t use them) and a nice soft blankie will do the trick this time! *fingers crossed*

We nursed so those little breast pads for leaky boobs are great, a nursing bra or vest was also fantastic, lanolin was useful during those first weeks of nursing. I also think a good baby carrier and swing was essential for us, it works amazing with colicky babies, another thing i think was a must fir us and our colicky baby was gripe water/ gas drops and burp cloths galore. :) I also heard great thing about sleeping sacks, but i never used any since we co-sleep… but for crib sleepers that might help them stay warm during the night. :)
